About the event
Join A Likely Story as they host, Lexington author, Mary Day, as she reads from her children’s book The Sophisticated Zoo. This story introduces us to the characters and personalities of The Sophisticated Zoo. We will have kid friendly snacks and drinks, Mary will read the story and talk about her character development. The audience will have a chance to ask questions followed by a book signing. In addition, Mary will display her original artwork of the Sophisticated Zoo characters.

Mary Day is a visual artist who resides in Lexington, Kentucky with her husband, step daughter, and two dogs Bacon and Turtle. While she has been painting most of her life, she is also a physician assistant currently practicing in the field of Critical Care/Pulmonary medicine. She has ventured into the world of children's literature after having completed the series of paintings titled "The Sophisticated Zoo" and was inspired to write about her paintings after reading to her step daughter every night. The "fancy" animals began to come to life in all of their beauty and flaws.
